45 year old California man, Kevin Lee Co, has pleaded guilty to wire fraud and money laundering. He allegedly stole $4.8 million from his employer over the course of 7 years. Among his purchases of cars, furniture, and NBA tickets, he also spent $1,000,000 on a mobile game, of all things. He used the money he stole from Holt of California on the mobile title, Game of War. You may know the game from their unrelenting commercials featuring model Kate Upton. If, for some reason, you have been able to avoid the Game of War ads, here is a clip:

Game of War: Fire Age is a multiplayer online strategy mobile game developed by Machine Zone. It was one of the highest grossing mobile games from 2014-2015. Game of War has PVP, PVE, and city building quests. Like many other mobile games, you must select an action and then wait a certain amount of time for the action to complete or spend money to speed it up. You are supposed to join an alliance, each of which is limited to 100 players, and that will eventually lead to Kingdom vs. Kingdom combat events that are set up by the developers.

Mr. Kevin Lee Co is set to be sentenced in March of 2017. He will face up to 20 years in prison and a $250 thousand fine for fraud and another 20 years, along with a fine of $500 thousand for money laundering. Was it really worth it, Kevin?
