Latest Ark Patch Brings Dinosaur Cloning, Hell Pigs, Giant Bees, and So Much More! (Video)

The latest Ark patch has brought with it so many goodies, including new creatures and even an “ultra-dangerous new cave” made from the volcano. The video below gives players a peek at all the changes that are added with patch 257, so check it out and then we’ll list all the details of each added item.

Here is the full list of all new additions included in this new Ark patch:

TEK Tier Content

“A wave of sci-fi-themed, end-game features that reward hard-working Survivors with awesomely futuristic gear and guns. Players wanting TEK Tier loot will need to gather the newly introduced Element resource, which is granted after successfully completing Boss Arenas, or it’s finer version Element Shards, which can be obtained via crafting at a TEK Replicator or grinding Element. Each Boss has three difficulty levels (Gamma, Beta, Alpha) and after defeating the respective Boss are awarded unique TEK Knowledge engrams, element and other general Boss Rewards. Collect the Element, then use the TEK Replicator to craft all TEK items!”

  • TEK Megalodon Saddle: In the wise words of Dr. Evil, “You know, I have one simple request. And that is to have sharks with frickin’ laser beams attached to their heads!” Well, your wish has been granted, because now your sharks can shoot frickin’ laser beams.
  • TEK Turret: The TEK Turret is just an upgraded Auto Turret that has advanced TEK AI that helps it target better and it also causes more damage with it’s laser blast.
  • TEK Grenades: The TEK Grenade is an upgraded grenade that will stick to your opponent and will give explosive damage after a short while.
  • TEK Cloning Chamber: Now with a few Element Shards, players can clone their creatures and their level, stats, and appearance will remain the same.

New Creatures

  • Apis Lithohermaea (Giant Bee): Players can find these beasts in the Island’s Redwoods, the rocky cliffsides, and even occasionally in the Canyons of Scorched Earth. These giant bees stay close to their nests and you can see the drones buzzing in groups around them. The only way to see the Queen Apis is to break open the nest, but beware because the drones are untamable and will protect the queen at all costs. It’s worth trying though, because a tamed Queen will lay drone eggs and create a new hive for survivors to farm honey. The sweet honey is irresistible and is used by hunters to bait traps.
  • Daeodon Comedentis (Hell Pig): These guys are not very friendly and are known to be territorial. Players can find them near the Island’s dry grasslands and the sandy beaches. This creature has an “unusually high metabolism” and can not only heal itself, but it’s regeneration can also affect nearby allies which is why they are great for raiding, boss, and hunting parties.
  • Liopleurodon Magicus: This magical beast and is said to reward the survivors who tame it with luck. Unfortunately they say that, “the Lucky Liopleurodon’s magic is so powerful, it cannot be kept under control, and after some time, it harnesses this power to get away.”
  • Kentrosaurus Aethiopicus: A close relative to the Stegosaurus Regium, this creature is a lot smaller, but don’t let the small size fool you because they are also more formidable. It can not be ridden thanks to the spikes on its back, but you put it in a group of tamed Kentrosaurus and it can defend a compound and take on larger carnivores.

The Volcano Redesign and the TEK Cave

“Upon arriving at this key destination on The Island, survivors will see a dormant volcano, as well as the entrance to the TEK Cave. It will be no small feat to make it through this blisteringly difficult cave, where the ARKs deadliest foes are known to live. Upon completing the cave (with its multiple difficulties), survivors will Ascend.”
