Adam Driver Teases Kylo Ren’s Fate in Star Wars Episode VIII (VIDEO)

During an appearance on Larry King Now, Marine veteran and actor Adam Driver discusses his start in film acting, how he got the part in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, and hints lightly as to the fate of Kylo Ren in the next installment of the Star Wars saga.

Since the release of Star Wars VII back in 2015, we’ve seen many previously lesser known actors gain fame through the Star Wars legacy. Adam Driver portraying the film’s antagonist is one such actor to see an increase in fame. As to whether or not the criticism his character receives is negative or positive, we leave that up to the audience, but it is inarguable that he has become a topic of discussion regardless.

This past week on Larry King Now, Driver was asked by Mr. King how it was he came about getting involved with Star Wars. As it turns out he was not actively seeking a role but rather was offered the casting by executive members of Lucasfilms and Director J.J. Abrams. Delving further into the involvement of his character of Kylo, King proceeded to ask how Adam felt about being the villain to which he somewhat jokingly replied, “People tend to try to talk to you less, which is nice.”

Driver also brought to light a very excellent point that many fans and audience members tend to not see right away when watching. The proposed villains don’t necessarily see themselves as evil, and according to Mr. Driver his character, Kylo Ren, genuinely believes he is doing what he sees as right. Not to sound cliched but, Anakin Skywalker summed this point up quite nicely in The Revenge of the Sith when he said, “From my point of view, the Jedi are evil.” Just because we see them as evil does not mean they see themselves that way.

Moving the interview along, King then tried to finagle even the tiniest hint of what’s to come in Episode VIII but Adam stuck to his guns and was mostly mum. However, not to be completely disappointed when directly asked if Kylo Ren survives the end of The Force Awakens and lives into Episode VIII, Driver gave a vague yet somewhat reaffirming response.

Depends on what you’re idea of living is…

Without going into much detail so as to not spoil any of the new film for us, we get the allusion that what we may see of Kylo Ren’s story in the upcoming film will be delving deeper into the humanity behind the mask so to speak. Not only that, but it is speculated that we may also receive answers to the question of why The Force Awakens had so many parallels to A New Hope. With any details of the next Star Wars film being kept under tight wraps, we will have to continue to wait until Lucasfilms decides to start spilling the beans.
