Injustice 2 Reveals Atom as First DLC Character in Fighter Pack 3 (VIDEO)

Atom as First DLC Character in Fighter Pack 3 (VIDEO)

NetherRealm Studios has announced yet another DC hero for its monster rostered fighting game Injustice 2. In recent weeks, most of the Injustice 2 hype has gone towards the upcoming Fighter Pack 2, which will see Hellboy enter the superhero fight. Now, to the surprise of virtually everyone, the incredible shrinking Atom has been revealed as a new combatant in a brand new gameplay trailer. The hero is to be the first character in the previously unannounced Fighter Pack 3, which will go live this December.

Atom’s ability to grow and shrink is taken full advantage in the fighter’s move-set, using speed and plentiful chain attacks to gain the upper hand. One powerful combo sees Atom grow to gigantic size and pound a foe into the ground with a massive fist. The short teaser does not show much of the size-manipulating hero’s attacks, but does see Atom make use of a few actual atoms, hinting at a truly explosive Super Move to come. Check out the footage for yourself below:

December is still a few months away, and while Atom fans will have to wait, there’s plenty to look forward to in the meantime. Mortal Kombat‘s Raiden has just recently released as DLC, as well as fellow DC hero Black Lightning as a premiere skin. Next month will see Dark Horse Comics‘ Hellboy enter the fight roster as the final character in Fighter Pack 2. PC fans can also be slightly hopeful if a recent store leak is to be believed. Injustice 2 is currently available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

What do you think? Is Atom a welcome addition to Injustice 2, or is he just an Ant-Man rip-off? Who else do you think is part of Fighter Pack 3?
