Halo Wars 2 Crossplay Goes Live Between PC And Xbox One – Here Are The Details
Allowing players on two separate platforms to enjoy a title together was something that many only dreamed of years ago, but those hopes have recently become more reality than fiction. With Microsoft seemingly spearheading the movement of cross-platform compatibility, nothing appears to be slowing them down. That being said, the day has finally arrived for Halo Wars 2 crossplay to go live.
With Halo Wars 2 crossplay functionality tagging along with the November patch, players on both PC and Xbox One can now battle one another. However, there are a few necessary restrictions. This is due to the advantages one platform may have over the other. According to 343 Industries, these are the playlists that crossplay supports:
- Blitz Firefight
- Campaign
- Custom Games
- Terminus Firefight
- Unranked playlists
There will also be a new “Ranked 3v3 X War” playlist for anyone looking to see exactly how the two platforms compare. Crossplay between PC and Xbox One wasn’t the only thing to arrive with the patch, of course. The update also enhances the title for the soon-to-launch Xbox One X, allowing for 4K Ultra and HDR support.
While the Halo Wars 2 crossplay feature is a bit limited at this time, 343 did state that additional playlists will be added to the list “once everything is verified to be in good shape”. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as more titles enable the increasingly popular capability.
