GTA Online is Taking Action Against In-Game Cheaters
It’s looking like Rockstar is taking a stand against players exploiting easy money-earning hacks in GTA Online. Players have received an unfortunate message recently stating that their in-game funds are being reset due to utilizing mods and taking advantage of in-game glitches to improve their piggy banks. The result is a drastic reduction of currency for everyone caught cheating. This news was released shortly after Rockstar announced an in-game bonus for players who choose to log into online servers for Grand Theft Auto V during the Halloween season, totaling out a whopping $250,000 cash bonus just for getting in the holiday spirit.
This drastic reduction in currency is being reserved as a first-time offense result and any illegitimate activities here on out will result in a permanent ban from the online game. Fortunately, Rockstar has also assured that players who legally purchased Shark cards will not see those funds reduced and are exempt from the wallet purge.
The hard resets on in-game currency came along just as Rockstar updated their suspension and ban policy. Removing the previously upheld “three strikes” rule, Rockstar has tightened up security on modders, and will go forward with their more stringent policy from here on out.
GTA Online suspensions are triggered by a number of factors, including modding in GTA Online, exploiting or abusing game mechanics, manipulating protected game data and code, or interfering with other players’ gameplay experience. Suspensions from GTA Online due to these reasons may be temporary suspensions or permanent bans depending on the severity of the infraction. If you receive a temporary suspension from GTA Online, the next infraction will result in a permanent ban. If you are temporarily suspended from GTA Online, you will not be able to access GTA Online from the moment you are suspended. Your suspension expiration date is shown on the splash screen after being returned to Story Mode following an attempt to play GTA Online. In addition, your GTA Online character(s) will be reset. All GTA Online progress, property and inventory will be reset. All GTA Online suspension and banning decisions are final and may not be appealed. – Rockstar Support
