Freddie Mercury Movie ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Debuts Magnifico First Trailer (VIDEO)
Over the last decade, a film chronicling the life of legendary Queen frontman Freddie Mercury has been in various stages of production, with numerous actors and creatives dropping in and out of the picture. It seems the film will now carry on, carry on in the film Bohemian Rhapsody, with Mr.Robot star Rami Malek in the role of the flamboyant rocker. A new trailer provides our first look of the long-awaited big-screen biopic.
With Malek as Mercury, the film follows the easy comes and easy gos of Queen’s formation and rise over a 15-year period, culminating in their performance at Live Aid in 1985. Malek’s performance in the trailer seems uncannily spot-on, and the silhouetto of the man is likely to have viewers wondering if this is real life or if it’s fantasy. Check it out below:
Other members of the Bohemian Rhapsody cast include Gwilym Lee as guitarist Brian May, Ben Hardy as drummer Roger Taylor, and Joseph Mazzello as bassist John Deacon. Allen Leech, Lucy Boynton, Aidan Gillen, and Mike Myers are also appearing in the film in supporting roles.
At various points, the film was in talks to have X-Men series director Bryan Singer at the helm and Borat‘s Sacha Baron Cohen as Freddie Mercury, but both left due to creative differences. While we won’t get to see what either two would’ve brought to the table, Bohemian Rhapsody nonetheless looks to have much to offer in terms of spectacle and with star Rami Malek. Any way the wind blows, we’ll definitely have to open our eyes and see when Bohemian Rhapsody hits theaters on November 2nd.
