It’s been a few days since Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XV released, and so far the excitement has been buzzing across the globe. The wait for this title has been a decade long venture, and with the game’s release, a new feature is breaking the classic Final Fantasy mold- for the first time: Final Fantasy XV co-op is the real deal and it’s almost within our grasp!

The announcement for the game’s online co-op capabilities came back in October on the official Final Fantasy Twitter and promised that the multiplayer feature would be released after the game’s November 29th release. The multiplayer functionality, tentatively titled Comrades, will come as a DLC you can download and play with up to four other people throughout the game. The online multiplayer is part of your season pass, so if you’ve got that purchased, you’re good to go when the multiplayer goes live!

Aside from the anticipation for co-op, Square Enix also announced today that they will be providing free updates for the title throughout the coming year.

Posted on their official blog, Square Enix explains that that want to continue improving the game’s functionality and adhere to the wishes of their fans and address any concerns that may crop up. While they haven’t given concrete outlines for their updates yet, their initial plans are phenomenal:

For the long term, we are looking at making certain key characters playable, and even considering the possibility of customizable avatars, in addition to other features over time. Other features we have in mind include letting you carry over stats from a previous playthrough, and adding items that introduce new playstyles, such as low-level runs and god mode. We’re also examining readability tweaks – increasing font size – for certain languages. On top of that, we’re looking at content you can enjoy in real-time, including new bosses with exclusive rewards and achievements, and limited-time hunts. ~Square Enix blog

With all of these promises coming from Square Enix, it’s easy to think that this could be the greatest game ever created.
