Final Fantasy XIV: Playable Viera Race Confirmed (VIDEO)
Tons of new and exciting news regarding Square Enix MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV has been pouring out of the Paris FanFest 2019 celebration. Most recently, it was revealed that the upcoming Shadowbringers expansion would be host to a special NieR: Automata-themed raid. Now, Square Enix has gone a step even further to excite fans by revealing a new playable race: the Viera.
During the FanFest celebration, game director Naoki Yoshida confirmed that the long-rumored Viera race would finally be coming to the popular Square Enix game as part of its Shadowbringers expansion. Afterwards, the Japanese publisher released lengthy trailer showing off how the Viera move as playable units within the game. Check it out below:
As seen in the trailer, the Viera are shown wearing almost exact replicas of the outfit worn by Fran in Final Fantasy XII. The wooded area revealed in the trailer is likely were the Viera live, so players will be able to familiarize themselves with the race once Shadowbringers launches later this year.
The new race isn’t all that was revealed at FanFest, as players can also look forward to the new tank job, the Gunbreaker. Gunbreakers will wield the gunblade in battle, a weapon that was first made famous thanks to Squall Leonhart in Final Fantasy VIII. There will also be a new beast tribe called the pixies, and the primal that holds saw over them is none other than Titania.
The Shadowbringers expansion for Final Fantasy XIV arrives on July 2, 2019.
