Final Fantasy XIV Patch 4.1 “The Legend Returns” Brings Final Fantasy Tactics to Eorzea
Since the arrival of the Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood expansion, fans have been wondering what comes next for Square Enix’s popular MMORPG. It was previously hinted at that a new 24-person raid was being developed for the game called “Return to Ivalice”, which implied that some elements from Final Fantasy XII may make its way into the title. The timing appeared to be perfect, as the FFXII remaster arrived just a few months ago. The FFXII connection was at least partially wrong though, as producer Naoki Yoshida revealed during a recent Liveletter presentation that patch 4.1 – titled “The Legend Returns” – will be Final Fantasy Tactics related. It was also revealed that “Father of Ivalice” Yasumi Matsuno, who wrote and directed FFT, wrote the scenario for The Legend Returns. Found below, one of the art pieces from the Liveletter reveals Final Fantasy Tactics characters Ramza and Delita, which should excite fans of the classic RPG.
Set to arrive early October, The Legend Returns update will feature a continuation of the main scenario quest following the events of Stormblood. New sidequests will be available, as well as new beast tribe quests for the Kojin. The update will also feature a new instanced dungeon titled the Drowned City of Skalla, and an extreme version of the Shinryu primal fight. For the hardcore raiders out there, a brand new ‘ultimate’ difficulty will also be made available for The Unending Coil of Bahamut, which will work off a token-based system for weapon drops.
In addition to the above news, the adventurer squadron feature is also getting its long-anticipated update, which will allow players to form a party with their squadron members and enter low level dungeons. While the number of available dungeons will initially be limited, more dungeons will be implemented at a later date. The level cap is also increasing for adventure squadron members, with the ability to glamour members once they reach level 51.
