Tactical Shooter Fear Effect Sedna Expected to Arrive Early Next Year (VIDEO)
Gamers that were around in the late 90’s/early 2000’s might remember a survival horror shooter by the name of Fear Effect. While the game has obtained a cult classic-like following over time, it has been 16 years since the prequel, Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix, was released. Even though that was the last title in the franchise to launch, fans can expect two entries to arrive next year, one of which is the tactical shooter, Fear Effect Sedna.
Being developed by French studio Sushee, Fear Effect Sedna is based on the original game in the series. Hana, Rain, Glas, and Deke will all be returning in the isometric tactics title. Players will be able to switch between characters as they fight their way to victory by strategizing their next move, slowing time down, and using the ability to wield two weapons at the same time. Check out a bit of the tactical action in the early prototype footage below:
This is all being made possible by the successful Kickstarter campaign that Sushee ran in 2016. While the game was meant for a Spring 2017 launch, a few improvements and changes along the way have delayed it. In the most recent backer update, the devs officially announced when Fear Effect Sedna will be coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Well, it may not be a specific date, but fans can expect the title to arrive in “early 2018”. They also mentioned that it will coming to the Nintendo Switch, so be ready to take your tactics on the run. In the meantime, check out the demo over on Steam.
Fear Effect Sedna isn’t the only game in the franchise that Sushee is working on. They are the developer behind the complete remake of the first title, appropriately named Fear Effect Reinvented. This is also expected to arrive next year for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One. Needless to say, a whole lot of nostalgia-inducing survival horror goodness is on the horizon.
