Fallout 76 Atoms Are Way More Expensive For PS4 On Amazon UK

Fallout 76 has become notorious for the mushroom cloud of controversy it’s faced since it launched just over a month ago. From the game’s epic glitches to the questionable quality of its Power Armor Edition, the multiplayer incarnation of the Wasteland has sure been off to a rocky start.

Adding to the pile of problems, Fallout 76’s means of microtransactions, Atoms, have also seen no shortage of frustration, the latest attributed to their substantially high pricing on Amazon UK. According to via The Sixth Axis, all listed instances of the in-game currency on the retail site have been going for more than double the price featured on other platforms. For example, a pack of 1000 Atoms on Xbox One costs £7.99 GBP (~$10 USD) whereas the same amount for the PS4 priced at £19.99 GBP (~$25 USD).

One would assume a full 250% markup would be a mistake on the part of Amazon UK, but it appears this increased price tag was originally the intent for those on PS4. According to an Amazon representative, each of these higher prices were in-line with the content owner’s wishes, but affirmed they were passing the issue along to the appropriate party.

I’ve checked and there isn’t any error on pricing.
Please be informed, the price is based on the agreements with the content owners. We are unable to provide any comment on that. However, I’ve passed your message as feedback to the Amazon Games & Software Downloads team.”

As of now it appears the higher pricing was indeed a mistake, as the price for each of these Atom packs is currently back to normal on Amazon UK. It’s unknown whether Bethesda may have had a hand in the adjusted price or if it was just a simple mistake, but at least all looks to be back in order. Fallout 76 is ou now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

What do you think? Are you glad that Amazon was able to repair the mistake, or are you wondering how the problem occurred with Fallout 76 the first place?
