Fallout 4 High Resolution Textures Pack Live Now on Steam Plus PS4 Pro Support Coming Soon
[UPDATED: Steam Patch is live now as of January 31st]
A Fallout 4 High Resolution Textures Pack update is on its way, followed by support for the PlayStation 4 Pro. This is a huge step forward, but not everyone will be pleased by the news.
In the latest news update from Bethesda, the Global Community Lead Matt Grandstaff explained that next week there would be updates for both Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition across all platforms, both games receiving more mod content soon. Specifically, he mentions that Fallout 4’s 1.9 update on the PlayStation 4 will add support for the extra power of the Pro console. The update will include several improvements:
- Enhanced lighting
- Enhanced graphical features
- Native 1440p resolution
- Enhanced draw distance for trees, grass, objects, and NPCs
- Enhance Godray effects
PS4 players will need to load up the game and download the latest title update when it becomes available to enjoy the improvements provided.
Grandstaff also went on to talk about the new Fallout 4 High Resolution Textures Pack. Available next week, Bethesda wants players to”consider this free download a love letter to our amazing PC fans.” If your PC can handle the update, it’s guaranteed to make the Commonwealth and everything in it look better than ever before. Their will be an option to disable it and return to the original textures if your system struggles to cope with the update.
The download will make the recommended specs to run the game higher than ever. Grandstaff notes that to utilize the pack, you will need to make sure you have an additional 58 GB of storage space, as well as meeting or exceeding the new recommended specifications:
- Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
- Intel Core i7-5820K or better
- GTX 1080 8GB
- 8GB+ Ram
As beautiful as it looks, it appears that not many players will be able to use the free update to its full potential, if at all. Will you be downloading the free pack on PC?
