Everspace 2 was announced earlier this year alongside several other tantalizing science-fiction titles. As the sequel to their original, Rockfish Games officially reveals the crowdfunding campaign for the open-world space shooter. Having already reached over forty-thousand dollars in pledges, Everspace 2 is already proving to be a highly-anticipated release. As with any Kickstarter campaign, there are tiered rewards depending on the amount of money pledged to back the project. With 26 different options to choose from, including one that opts out of a reward, this gives independent studio Rockfish an avenue to incorporate fan feedback from the start. They believe that by making Everspace 2 a crowdfunding campaign, the entire experience will be better for all.

“Imagine a Hack & Slash Action-RPG with all the bells and whistles: classes, random loot, skills, talents, and more… but in space,” reads a description of Everspace 2’s Kickstarter page. “Your ship is the hero in this adventure. Expand your private ship collection from a virtually endless supply of vessels composed of three main classes with several sub-classes and optimize your build to perfection. Cleverly combine modules, weapons, devices, and perks to fit your individual playstyle and the current objective.”

Everspace 2 heads into Steam early access in 2020, then Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2021. An official release date has not been revealed yet.
