From the footage, we get a peek at the all the Donkey Kong Country goodness we expect from Retro Studios with dynamic 2D platforming, a wide array of level types, and goofy playable characters. Perhaps the biggest addition of Tropical Freeze is the surfboard-sporting Funky Kong, which not only drops a healthy dose of cool-factor to the proceedings, but also a “Funky Mode,” which acts as an easier difficulty setting for the game. Check it out below.
For those outside the know, Tropical Freeze sees the tropical Donkey Kong Island hit with an icy blizzard brought forth by a cold-embracing group called the Snowmads. The Viking-like antagonists then take the locale for themselves and send the previous inhabitants packing. With the Kong clan on hand, players platform through a series of levels to take back their home and defeat the Snowmads. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is now available for Nintendo Switch.
