Devs Respond to Fan Concern Over Mass Effect: Andromeda Gameplay Trailer Animations

Unsurprisingly among the biggest highlights of the 2016 Video Game Awards was the reveal of the Mass Effect: Andromeda gameplay trailer. The extended premiere showcased various elements of  gameplay from aspects like resource collection and crafting mechanics to squad interactions and boss fights. Mass Effect (ME) fans are some of the most passionate fans around and so once the trailer hit the ol’ interwebs where it could be inspected a bit more closely,  some were quick to voice concern over some of the off-putting facial animations glimpsed. The most notable instance of the “unpolished” animation is the segment in which the main character Sarah Ryder is talking to a shady port boss. You can barely notice it around the 1:37 mark. Check out the Andromeda gameplay trailer below and see for yourself:

The developer was quick to quell fan concern with Bioware’s Mac Walters and Aaryn Flynn reassuring gamers that the title is still a work in progress and as such will continued to be “polished” up to the last possible minute.

Veterans of the franchise have been waiting the release of this 4th installment for a long time now as the game (as often is the case) has had a couple of delays. With that being said, while I’m sure the majority of fans didn’t expect perfection, they didn’t expect unsynced animations either.

We don’t have a hard release date for the game yet, only a vague “coming spring of 2017” time frame so we’d have to cut BioWare some slack and chalk it up to the developer being excited to share the footage with fans even if it contained a minor flaw. There’s absolutely no reason to panic at this point because as members of the BioWare team pointed out, they are still hard at work putting the finishing touches on and things like tweaking those types of issues are often resolved during this process.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is scheduled to release in spring of 2017 (March 21st hopefully) on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
