You Can Now Create GIFs on the PlayStation 4

Sony is rolling out it’s Sharefactory 2.0 update for the PlayStation 4 today. The update sees the addition of several features including the ability to create GIFs and photo collages. The update is also to fix minor bugs and issues as well as to revitalize the UI (user interface). Players can use the Capture Gallery or their existing Sharefactory projects to create looping animated GIFs of up to 10 seconds in length.

Sharefactory adds GIFs feature

The update also introduces “Photo Mode” which allows users to create custom photo collages with up to six photos as well as access to most of Sharefactory’s existing filters and effects. Additionally, the software upgrade will support the PS4 Pro’s high resolution content allowing users to create and share 1080p videos and 4k screenshots according to the post on the PlayStation blog. Below is a list of other features and fixes that will be included.

  • Projects now export up to 20 percent faster
  • Pan & zoom on your gameplay videos
  • New Sharefactory troll stickers
  • New font for “internet meme”
  • Split clip feature can now be utilized on Track 2
  • Refreshed UI

Sony Senior Producer and author of the blog post Stuart Platt made the follow remarks:

“We appreciate the feedback we received from fans and we will continue to work hard to make more enhancements to Sharefactory. We’re excited to see the new content created by our PlayStation fans with the features of this new update.”

Platt also mentions that Sony is hard at work developing even more features like importing your own audio tracks, audio and video commentary with green screen effects, and the ability to export and share videos of up to 60 minutes. The features being added with this latest update and the one’s rumored to come in the future all sound pretty rad to us.
