American Ninja Warrior Game Adaptation Coming In March (VIDEO)
For years, the reality-competition American Ninja Warrior has positioned itself as one of the most arduous athletic experiences on TV, the program centered around contestants conquering its infamously difficult obstacle course. Repeated leaping, climbing, and salmon laddering is all par for the course in crowning the titular ‘Ninja Warrior,’ and it now appears gamers will also have a chance to prove their mettle in the endlessly grueling gauntlet.
Announced by The Hollywood Reporter, developers GameMill Entertainment as well as NBC and Universal are set to release “American Ninja Warrior Challenge,” a new video game based on the popular competition. Set to arrive on March 19th, the new title is to adopt the same general premise of the show, following participants from their initial training to eventually competing at the ultimate Ninja Warrior course atop Mt. Midoriyama. Released alongside the announcement was a teaser trailer, which can be viewed below.
“We are excited to unveil the many challenging and fun features in the coming months, which are designed to allow players to step into the shoes of their very own American Ninja Warrior competitor,” spoke Universal’s executive VP of games and digital platforms Chris Heatherly. “Millions of fans around the world have been inspired and entertained by American Ninja Warrior since it first debuted and it has transformed into an unrivaled pop culture phenomenon.”
American Ninja Warrior Challenge will be available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on March 19th.
