Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Reveals Persona 5’s Joker (VIDEO)

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Adds Joker from Persona 5 Alongside v3.0 Update

For months, fans have been waiting for the arrival of Joker from Persona 5 to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with little updates left since the character’s announcement. However, Nintendo has now surprised everyone with the character’s recent reveal as well as his immediate release date that is set to go live later today.

Revealed in the 15+ minute update video below, Joker can be seen heading into battle with a trusty knife/gun combo as well as a nifty grappling hook for getting out of sticky situations. Of course, this isn’t the only trick up Joker’s sleeve as he also has the ability to summon a flippin’ Persona in form of Arsene. While not usually the most formidable one at at his arsenal, Arsene comes in handy in boosting players’ moves to get that extra edge in battle.

Included in this new DLC dubbed the Challenger Pack 1 is Mementos, a trippy transforming arena with various references to Persona games peppered throughout. Also included in the pack are 11 music tracks inspired from Person 5 as well as previous titles Persona 3 and 4. Each track notably has an effect on the Mementos battlefield, all alternating the color of the stage to red, yellow, or blue.

Those interested in picking up Joker will be able to do so via the Challenger Pack 1 DLC for $5.99 USD or opt for the full Fighters Pass for $25.99 (which comes to about $5.20 per character). It’s currently unknown who might be the next available character or when such content could go live, but it’s teased that all will be revealed relatively soon.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is out now for Nintendo Switch.
