‘Johnny the Homicidal Maniac’ Creator Offers Hilarious Spin On Live-Action Sonic

Live-Action Sonic Johnny the Homicidal Maniac' Creator Offers Hilarious Spin On

Though the idea of a live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie would seem to present a pretty crowd-pleasing idea, fans have discovered quite the opposite may be currently underway with Paramount Pictures. The speedster’s teased realistic and leggy design hasn’t exactly resonated with fans, the character’s full leaked appearance not budging those negative opinions either.

Reactions have poured out of all corners of social media regarding the new Sonic, and comic writer Jhonen Vasquez has now also chimed in with his own. Known for his contributions in creating Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and animated show Invader Zim, Vasquez has now offered a live-action Sonic inspired redesign of his titular comic book character, Johnny “Nny” C. In his post, the artist jokingly cites the character’s spiky new look is for his “upcoming CG/live action movie.”

Whether Sonic’s new real-world look inspires creativity, ridicule, or a rare case of genuine appreciation, it’s likely that we’re all going to have to get used to it one way or another. While Paramount could always opt to alter Sonic’s new design, this overly human-like look is probably here to stay, especially with the movie approaching it’s theatrical release in less than a year’s time.

Sonic the Hedgehog is scheduled to race into theaters on November 8th.

What do you think? Did you enjoy Jhonen Vasquez’s sick burn on the blue Hedgehog, or are you actually a fan of the new Sonic design?
