Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Update Introduces New Short Hop Method

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Many fighters have been enjoying their time in the latest Super Smash Bros. entry for the Nintendo Switch. That is, of course, when their save files aren’t being corrupted by a glitch revolving around the recently added persistent, pummeling, potted Piranha Plant.

Another feature that was introduced to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate alongside the Piranha Plant was a new method players could use to short hop. To make things a bit easier for combatants, all one has to do to short hop now is simply press both of the jump buttons at the same time. Before this update, players would have to master the art of pressing the jump and attack buttons at the same time or tapping a jump button lightly and quickly.

Of course, Piranha Plant and a new short hop method weren’t the only things added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with the latest update. Here’s a bit more from Version 2.0.0:

  • Offline
    • You can now play Spirit Board with up to four players.
      • Select the spirit you want to challenge on the Spirit Board, and then go to Party → Fighter to select the number of people who will play. When playing with multiple people, you will lose the battle if any player is KO’d.
    • The following spirits will now appear in the Shop.
      • Partner Pikachu
      • Partner Eevee
      • Dice Block
      • River Survival
      • Golden Dash Mushroom
  • Online
    • We adjusted the calculation for Global Smash Power.
  • General
    • Fixed the issue where the KO score included your teammates’ KOs when Team Attack was On.
    • Game-balance adjustments.
    • Various gameplay fixes.

Nintendo also included a list of all of the specific adjustments to fighters, which can be found right here. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
