Reboot of Tomb Raider Movie Teases Story Details (Video)
Grahm King, producer of the newest Tomb Raider, dropped some details for the premise of the highly anticipated film which will star Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Danish Girl) as the lovely Lara Croft. The movie is due to be released on March 16th, 2018.
In an interview with HeyUGuys, King mentions that this film will be a “back to the roots” story of a young Lara Croft searching to find out if her father is dead or alive. Outside of that not much was mentioned, but take a look at the interview below!
This will definitely be an interesting take on finding out just who Lara is. The 2001 and 2003 versions of the movie (starring Angelina Jolie as Croft) payed homage to Lara’s insane amount of wit, intelligence and all around badass-ness, yet it did not give nearly enough attention to her journey. This new version of the film will hopefully answer some of the questions left behind.
Vikander, when speaking to HitFix about the role said:
They told me they were doing the film based on the reboot of the game from 2013, that is more of an origin story. You get into an emotional aspect of getting to know Lara hopefully in an in-depth way. So I hope that doing a film of the rebooted game will bring something new and fresh that’ll stand on its own two legs.
This Tomb Raider reboot will definitely tug on the heartstrings and hopefully be able to help us connect to Lara in a whole new light, and not only see her as the truly epic heroine that she is, but also as a woman who is just as human as the rest of us!
What do you hope to see from the latest film? Since it is not a direct copy of a game, do you think the movie fares a better chance at success? Sound off with your thoughts below!
