Final Fantasy’s Bahamut is one of the most recognizable names in the series, and for good reason; the summon has appeared in almost all of the numbered Final Fantasy titles to date, the most recent of which was his game-changing reveal in Final Fantasy XV. As such, Square Enix has seen fit to pay homage to the Dragon King with a high-end Bahamut statue, as part of the company’s Bring Arts line of figures.

Designed by renowned sculptor Takayuki Takeya, the Bahamut statue boasts an impressive size of 18″ W x 11.1″ D x 9.9″ H. He isn’t just for show, though. Bahamut has a wide range of articulation, with many poses available that will still enable collectors to seat him atop his base. Speaking of, no mere normal statue base is good enough for the Dragon King; Bahamut rests atop a bed of crystals that appear to be “bursting forth from the earth,” according to the statue’s description on the Square Enix website. Meticulously sculpted and with careful paint application, the details of this figure help it to soar above the rest. The paint has been carefully layered to achieve a luminous effect on the scales, and the scarlet underside of the slightly translucent wings makes this Bahamut feel truly alive. The pearlescent effect of the paint on his claws and horns provide contrast against the vivid coloring of the rest of the figure.

The figure also boasts articulated jointing to allow for a range of poses. When the collector is done posing the figure, the finishing touch of is Bahamut’s included display stand, sculpted to have the appearance of crystals bursting forth from the earth. For anyone who loves FINAL FANTASY, this figure is a must have.”

Those familiar with Final Fantasy lore may recall that Bahamut does not appear exactly the same way throughout all his appearances in the series. The version this Bahamut statue is based off of is his form from Final Fantasy VIII, albeit with a bit more purple coloring this time around. The Final Fantasy Bahamut statue is now available for pre-order, with a 10% discount bringing the price down to $134.99. The expected release date for the statue is July 2018.
