New Leaked Assassin’s Creed: Origins Images Reveal the Game’s Egyptian Protagonist

A few weeks ago, an image surfaced online claiming to be a screenshot from the rumored next game in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series, titled Assassin’s Creed: Origins. Inside sources claimed the yet-unannounced game would be the biggest Assassin adventure yet, taking place inside the mysterious world of ancient Egypt. These details seem to be backed up because now, a new leaked Assassin’s Creed: Origins image has appeared online, providing a much clearer look at the upcoming game’s male protagonist, as well his name.

Leaked via ComicBook.com, the lead character for Assassin’s Creed: Origins has been revealed in t-shirt form. The protagonist, Ba Yek, can be seen brandishing a shield and bow combination and sporting some very recognizable Assassin clothes. Also noticeable, the shirt’s background features what looks to be an eagle design in the style of Egyptian hieroglyphics, the bird being a common theme in the Assassin’s Creed series. All these details seem to unofficially confirm the game’s ancient Egypt setting and debunk the rumored “Assassin’s Creed: Empire” title.

Acknowledging the leak was Ubisoft’s Ashraf Ismail, who worked as a director on Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Posting on Twitter, Ismail showed his appreciation of the merchandise while saying very little else.

Whether or not the leaked image is representative of the final game is not yet known, but given how convincing it seems and Ubisoft’s closely approaching E3 conference, it’s probably a safe bet that it is legitamate.
