Nioh is an action RPG that has been on the radar of many gamers for quite some time. Even when it was originally going to be named Oni and for the PS3. Times have changed since then and so has this game. The PlayStation exclusive will offer a myriad of enemies to slash through with a decent selection of short and long range weapons to choose from, all while providing beautiful visuals. Your eyes do not deceive you, gamers. Nioh is being released on February 8(US) and February 9(EU). That is just three weeks to prepare for a glorious gaming session of hacking away at demons! Nioh aims to test players’ skills with a difficulty that may infuriate some. Hopefully, this degree of toughness does not plague the game because it really does look to be a good one. Here is what PlayStation has to offer in terms of an overview:
In Nioh, players will traverse war-torn Japan as William, a blonde-haired swordsman whose background as a fierce warrior and seasoned knowledge of the blade allows him to survive in the demon-plagued land of the samurai. Known as Yokai, these demons inhabit a number of dangerous locations and lie in wait in the shadows to ambush unsuspecting victims. Players will also face off with other samurai in supernatural sword battles and intense, multi-target engagements offering a level of difficulty that will truly test even the most hardened samurai’s skills, patience, and strategy.
Offering a deep and original storyline that takes place during the Warring States Period of Japanese history alongside strategic sword-fighting action, Nioh will challenge players in a way that makes every mission and accomplishment feel earned and worthwhile.”
Sounds fun, right? If you go through the comments of the YouTube video below, you’ll see that people are already loving this game. Between the alpha and beta stages, to all of the trailers and gameplay videos, Nioh is bringing a bit of hype with it to its release date and it could very well end up being one of the best games of 2017.
Nioh is being developed by Team Ninja, who is known for the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive franchises. The game is a PS4 exclusive and is being published by Koei Tecmo in Japan, and Sony Interactive Entertainment worldwide. In the video below, which was posted to the PlayStation Access YouTube channel in December, you can get a feel for the gameplay and everything the upcoming title has to offer. Rob and Nathan, who can be heard talking in the video, even mention how Nioh is nearly a cross between Ninja Gaiden and Dark Souls, which is completely fair. Take a look for yourselves:
What say you, gamers? Do you plan on picking Nioh up when it comes out in a few weeks? Have any of you played the demo? What did you think? Can you feel the inspiration from Dark Souls coursing through the veins of this game? Let us know in the comments down below! Before you do that, did you happen to catch this?
