Giant robots and explosions galore! The latest Paramount trailer in the new Transformers franchise has been released, and Transformers – The Last Knight promises to be one hell of a ride for viewers looking for the next installment in the series. In true Michael Bay fashion, the trailer is rife with explosions and violence, with the war between human and machine revealing a surprising twist:  Optimus Prime himself is the new antagonist as he tries to bring an end to Cade Yeager and Bumblebee.

While we don’t entirely know what the premise of the newest film is about, it’s safe to assume that the plot will delve into the history of the planet and the beginning of this great war. The teaser trailer definitely paints a very dark, gritty picture, and it does look like the film picks up immediately after the events of Age of Extinction, before diving headfirst into the shock factor of Optimus Prime returning as the big bad, so it’s definitely going to be interesting to see where Bay decided to take this film.

Last month, fans got to take a sneak peek behind the scenes of the film, with an IMAX exclusive featurette that gave us a chance to see what exactly went into creating this film in its massive glory. It’s still several months away before we get a chance to see exactly what Bay has in store for us, or why Optimus Prime is suddenly the new villain (or if he’s simply a red herring for the real bad guy), so check back with us regularly for more updates as they come out.
