The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics Revealed By Nintendo (VIDEO)
Netflix is finally conjuring up its big prequel to The Dark Crystal this coming August with the debut of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. While there’s considerable anticipation regarding the movie-turned-fantasy-series, Nintendo’s E3 presentation has now also revealed a new tie-in strategy RPG for the upcoming adaptation called The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics.
Developed by Stranger Things 3: The Game developer BonusXP, the debut trailer for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics looks to going for a turn-based spin on The Dark Crystal, gameplay evoking old-school tactics titles such as Final Fantasy Tactics and Shining Force. In The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics, lead the heroic Gelfling to restore light to the world of Thra! Experience everything the fantasy world has to offer by playing through–and going beyond–the events of the Netflix series. Encounter never-seen-before playable characters, stories, and environments.
Over the course of 80 unique turn-based campaign battles taking place across the lands of Thra, recruit new allies and customize their forces by assigning them jobs and outfitting them with new equipment.”

- An Expanded World of Thra –Learn the histories of the Gelfling clan as you travel to their home territory. Play through reimagined and new battles against the Skeksis and help lead the Gelfling to victory.
- Gelfling Tactics –Guide the Gelfling to fulfill their prophecy in multi-layered, turn-based tactical combat. Customize units with gear, upgradable abilities, and a job system. Use guile, planning, and cunning to overcome foes!
- Highly Replayable –Replay finished battles to earn full marks or the entire game! Once completed, challenge New Game+ mode, keeping all your progress from the first playthrough while facing more difficult versions of battles.
- Rich, Dynamic Environments –Thra is an unpredictable environment as dangerous as it is beautiful. Dynamic events on the battlefield may create opportunities or put the Gelflings at a disadvantage, necessitating rapid changes in strategy.
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics is set to release for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One sometime in 2019. The Netflix series starts streaming August 30th.
