The Uncharted Movie has a Director- Shawn Levy of ‘Stranger Things’
Deadline has reported that Sony Pictures has brought on Shawn Levy as Director for the highly anticipated Uncharted movie. Shawn Levy executive produced and directed several episodes of Netflix’s summer hit series Stranger Things.
Other than Stranger Things, Shawn Levy has produced and directed such films as Night at the Museum, Real Steel, and Date Night. The latest version of the script for the film was written by Joe Carnahan (The Grey, The A-Team) and was set to direct. Carnahan has moved away from Uncharted to write and direct the third Bad Boys film, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.
The movie will be based on the action-adventure video games from Naughty Dog and Sony Interactive. The story follows a treasure hunter named Nathan Drake who believes he has learned the whereabouts of the legendary golden city of El Dorado. Competing against rival treasure hunters and mutated Nazis, Nathan Drake must learn the true secrets of this mystical location. The game series has become a staple in the adventure game genre, spanning four games and ending with Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
Uncharted was looking at a June 2017 release but has since been removed from Sony Pictures’ movie calendar. No official release date or casting has been released at this time.
