A New RPG is in the Works from Square Enix – First Look at ‘Project Prelude Rune’

If you’re like many of us here at DFTG, then you often are on the lookout for the latest in RPG (role-playing game) titles. The team over at Square Enix is looking out for fans of this genre when they recently just announced a brand new title that they are working on called Project Prelude Rune. Not only is there a new title in the works, but a brand new studio behind it to bring this story to life.

Studio Istolia, based in Tokyo, is going the be taking the helm of this project with former Tales of Berseria producer Hideo Baba at the lead as the President of the new studio. Square Enix was excited to tell fans about what’s in the near future and had this to say in a public statement:

Hideo Baba is working as the producer of “Project Prelude Rune” as well. The project aims to build a new RPG with a new fantasy: unfolding across a vast land teeming with life. Nurtured by the earth, the many peoples of this land dare to dream, fighting for what is just—and this is their tale. Further details on “Project Prelude Rune” will be revealed at a later time.

If you are wondering where the name “Istolia” came from, they also announced the new studio in the same press statement and gave a little backstory as to why the name is paramount to their vision:

The name ISTOLIA originates from the Greek word ‘story’ and is central to the studio’s primary value. The aim of the studio is to provide unforgettable stories that will inspire players in their own lives, and bring new game experiences to everyone around the world.

At this time there is no other information about Project Prelude Rune, but the announcement did come bearing some interesting concept art that has definitely piqued our curiosity. We have reached out to Square Enix for anymore more information they are willing to share so stay tuned with DFTG for more on this potential RPG.
