Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Listing Leak Reportedly Just A Placeholder
Yesterday we reported about a retail listing for a PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2. While it seemed as airtight of a confirmation as any given how often certain games are leaked via retail listings, it appears that the listing for a PC version of the upcoming Rockstar Games title wasn’t as set in stone as we thought it was.
Speaking to Wccftech, MediaMarkt – the European retailer responsible for the PC listing of Red Dead Redemption 2 – issued a statement revealing that the listing was a simple placeholder, though a PC version of the game is still expected to be announced at some point in the future. “It’s true we had the Red Dead Redemption 2 PC version listed,” the rep began.
I checked this with the games department at our HQ and got told that it’s something of a placeholder and that they count on it being announced sometime in the future (just as with GTA V for example). It is no longer listed as available for pre-purchase, though.”
While there isn’t a solid confirmation that a PC version of RDR2 is coming, the fact that the retailer is anticipating its announcement says a lot. There has been some other evidence to support the notion that RDR2 will eventually make its way to the PC, such as this LinkedIn profile of a Rockstar employee, but no solid confirmation yet from Rockstar. It is important to note that the developer usually takes a bit longer on the PC ports of their games. Almost every GTA game since 3 has come to the PC at a later date than console as well as LA Noire.
Thankfully, Rockstar usually comes through with PC ports of their games, with the obvious notable exception of the first Red Dead Redemption. Given the very vocal contingent of players and fans who love Red Dead Redemption, it seems like an inevitability at this point.
Red Dead Redemption 2 releases on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018.
