Fans of Rockstar Games have been faced with quite a few teases over the past couple months regarding the release of the upcoming western title Red Dead Redemption 2. From leaked photos to tidbits about story lines, it’s been a long, frustrating several months as fans wait impatiently for game developers to finally come clean about their deepest, darkest secrets of the highly anticipated title. One of the most frustrating pieces of information eluding fans, however, would have to be: When will Red Dead Redemption 2 finally be released? After a previous leak suggested that the game could be launching on October 2nd, it seems that yet another video game retailer might have spilled the beans. Media Markt, a Polish video game retailer, has also “accidentally” revealed a possible release date for the game, and this time, the leak sets the game release for October 3rd. It’s rather interesting how close those two “possible” dates are, yes?

The discovery was posted on Reddit by user Adakam8323, who shared the below screen capture revealing the alleged date. This Reddit user also stated that a representative from Media Markt sent an email to Polish gaming site CD-Action about the posting, stating “I would like to inform you that our marketing department was informed by distributor of the game that its airing date is 3rd of october 2017.” Naturally, the story was written up on the site before Media Markt’s PR representative Wioletta Batóg quickly emailed an update to CD-Action, backpedaling on the release date. The news site and the pre-order page on Media Markt now state that the game’s release has been returned to its December 31st place holder date.

For those who know anything about video game releases, it comes as no surprise that the date has been changed on both pages, as revealing any sort of release date prior to game developer announcements comes with big consequences for those involved. Even still, it’s interesting to see that two sites have leaked possible release dates for this game, both of which are within a day of one another. It really makes us wonder if maybe these leaks are onto something and we will be seeing the game’s launch in early October.
