PUBG Leak Suggests PS4 Reveal Coming Soon
After a lengthy period of exclusivity on the Xbox One, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) appears to be readying itself for a jump over to the PlayStation 4. The news comes by way of Twitter user Nibellion, who discovered a listing for the as-yet unconfirmed PS4 version of the game over on the Korean ratings board website. Seen below, the listing itself seems to be legitimate, with the date of the classification decision listed as September 11th, 2018.
The timing itself seems to be appropriate as well. Earlier this month, PUBG officially left the Xbox One Game Preview program and released its 1.0 update, which featured exclusive content and the arrival of the PC version’s Sanhok map. That said, despite the developer’s best efforts of wrangling its player base back in, the success of Fortnite and the upcoming release of Call of Duty’s new Blackout mode is seriously hurting the battle royale game’s numbers, and the reveal of an upcoming PS4 version of the game could be just what PUBG Corp needs to come back swinging.
The (alleged) PS4 version of PUBG also has the potential of skipping the growing pains that both the PC and Xbox One versions of the game went through. With the developer currently knee-deep in its ‘Fix PUBG’ campaign, the PS4 has the potential of being host to the most properly distilled version of the game. That said, the architecture of the PlayStation 4 is of course vastly different than that of the PC and Xbox One, so for now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is now available for PC and Xbox One. PUBG Mobile is now available for Android and iOS devices.
