New PS4 VR Update Makes ‘Here They Lie’ Virtual Reality Optional
With the latest PS4 VR update, virtual reality is now optional for the horror game Here They Lie. That means players can make the choice of playing the standard game, if they own it. If not, then it is as good a time as any to check the title out for yourself! Current and prospective owners will receive both options, but it doesn’t stop there. There will be a controller configuration screen, chapter select, subtitles (for Standard only), better anti-aliasing, and much more added. Based on community feedback through social media and the personal website, this was a move Santa Monica Studios needed to make.
Additionally, the update will apply enhanced visuals for Here They Lie. This will affect both versions of the PlayStation 4 (Standard and Pro). The standard game will be able to utilize 4K and HDR graphics support, which means there will be “better shadows, post-processing effects, dynamic flashlight shadows, and ambient occlusion”.
Gameplay mechanics and visuals for virtual reality players won’t be left out, of course. Global head tracking will be much smoother and accurate, and texture redesign and sharpness for a more immersive experience. For more in-depth information, check out the PlayStation Blog for details on the update went live February 21st.
