It 01

The fear of clowns has been around for ages, but one terrifying book by horror legend Stephen King took the fear to a whole new level with his creep-tastic novel IT. The book was turned into made for TV mini series back in 1990, which brought a visual representation to help insight nightmares in children and adults for decades. This fall It is returning in a brand new feature film. There is to be an official teaser trailer released on March 29, but why wait to get the heeby-jeebies? Ahead of the trailer’s arrival, some new images from the film have surfaced to make your hair stand on end. Check out the gallery below:

The book, as well as the TV series and new film, takes place in two separate time eras. The story is centered on a group of kids known as “The Losers Club” who are tormented and haunted by a demonic clown by the name of Pennywise. After the surviving friends grow up, they are revisited by the malevolent balloon carrying clown, who is bound and determined to finish what he started so many years ago. The new film will be the first of two planned movies: one focusing on the group as kids, and the other when they are adults.

The new film will star Hemlock Grove actor Bill Skarsgård, who will be taking on the roll of Pennywise the Clown. In the 1990 series, that role was played flawlessly by famed actor Tim Curry, who haunted our nightmares with red balloons and an irrational fear of storm drains for decades. Don’t let the nostalgia of the TV mini series cloud your judgement just yet. In a time where it seems like we are seeing and endless amount of remakes, re-imaginings, and reboots – there may be a glimmer of hope. The source material’s creator Stephen King seems to be quite impressed with the new film, as seen by a Twitter post:
