MLB The Show 21 On Xbox Game Pass Was MLB’s Decision, Says Sony

MLB The Show 21 Xbox Game Pass Not Sony's Decision

Fans were already excited enough to see MLB The Show 21 coming to another platform in addition to a PlayStation console, but many were blown away when it was recently revealed that the title will be coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one. That said, it would appear the decision to bring the once-exclusive game to Microsoft’s was not made by Sony, but rather by MLB.

While the upcoming title is developed by Sony’s San Diego Studio, it is being published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and MLB, the latter of which holds the license to the series. According to Sony in a recent interview with Inverse (via VGC), it was MLB’s decision which led to MLB The Show 21 coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one. “As part of the goal for this year’s game, MLB decided to bring the franchise to more players and baseball fans,” the PlayStation rep said.

This decision provides a unique opportunity to further establish MLB The Show as the premier brand for baseball video games.”

It is interesting to see MLB The Show 21 coming to Xbox and its Game Pass subscription service. While we likely won’t be seeing the likes of Horizon Zero Dawn or God of War come to the service, it will be intriguing to see what the future holds for Xbox Game Pass and how far Microsoft is willing to go to make players see the value it has.

Either way, players will soon be able to play ball as MLB The Show 21 is set to arrive on April 20th for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
