Microsoft’s XBox Design Lab Will Not Be Opening Outside The U.S. In The Near Future

Xbox Design Lab

Last year, Microsoft made waves at E3 2016 when they announced that they would be starting a new service for fans everywhere: the Xbox Design Lab. This official channels allows gamers to design a custom Xbox One controller fit with just the right style to fit every individual gamer’s needs. As customers are able to design their own controllers, this service has definitely taken off over the past year, exciting fans everywhere with the over 8 million possible combinations one can order for preferred colors and schemes to fit their needs. These custom controllers run gamers about $80 before shipping, while adding a custom engraving tacks on another $10.

Unfortunately, it seems that this service is being limited to a single market, and has no plans on changing any time soon. Right now, the Xbox Design Lab is only for residents of the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Canada, leaving a lot of fans elsewhere without the opportunity to order their own custom controller from the Microsoft venue, though their are still third party options available, they are often priced at a higher bracket.

Naturally, in the bid to make a change in the market, fans have already reached out to Microsoft leads to inquire whether or not the design lab would become available to other countries in the near future. An answer came quickly, though not exactly with positive results. Aaron Greenberg, the Head of Microsoft’s Games Marketing has spoke out about the problem after a fan inquired about the issue, stating simply that there were no plans to move to other markets yet. His Tweet on the subject can be seen below:

While it seems that the wait may be on for awhile more, it does seem that Microsoft leads are gearing up to widen the market at some point in the future, hopefully as soon as late this year. Custom controllers have always been a big deal in the market, with fans and gamers always vying for their favored style.
