Kill La Kill Game Debuts First Gameplay Trailer, New Story Details (VIDEO)

Kill La Kill Game

Following their work on the hugely successful Dragon Ball FighterZ, Arc System Works has now set their sights on bringing another over-the-top anime to gaming platforms. Based on the series from Studio Trigger, Kill la Kill The Game: IF was announced a few weeks ago, touting a “battle action” title under development from A+ Games. The Kill la Kill game has now premiered its first piece of fast-paced fighting gameplay as well as a few new story tidbits.

Premiering at Anime Expo 2018, Kill La Kill protagonist Ryuko Matoi can be seen taking on Satsuki Kiryuin in spectacular combat, showing off the title’s arena-style fighting gameplay. The footage notably captures the show’s art style beautifully, featuring all the expected flashy sword clashes and cinematic flourishes in glorious 3D. Check it out below:

Along with this peek of exciting footage, the anime gathering also provided new details about Kill la Kill The Game: IF, namely, what that “IF” subtitle is all about. According to the panel of Studio Trigger, Arc System Works, and A+ Games creatives, this is meant to signify a “what if” scenario for the original series, as the game will present an “untold story” from the perspective of Satsuki, rather than following the anime’s main protagonist of Ryuko.

While this first outing was all about debuting epic footage and inklings of story, the game was announced to be in a playable state and it will make its debut at EVO 2018, which will be held on August 3rd to the 5th in Las Vegas, Nevada. From what we can tell, the overall experience is looking like it could be a pretty satisfying time for fans. Kill la Kill The Game: IF will release for PC and PlayStation 4 sometime in 2019.
