Just Cause: Mobile Reveals Explosive Cinematic Trailer (VIDEO)

Just Cause: Mobile

Causing destruction and mayhem in the Just Cause games is one of the series’ most well-known staples and Square Enix is preparing to take the fun to mobile devices with the aptly-titled Just Cause: Mobile. Initially revealed during December’s The Game Awards, the upcoming title has now made another showing at Square Enix’s latest showcase, with developers touting the game’s features in a particularly action-packed and explosive cinematic trailer.

The above footage presents a stellar, if somewhat over-the-top, look at what Just Cause: Mobile has to offer, with the actual game aiming to provide the same “one-person wrecking crew” gameplay the series is known for and applying it to the mobile space. Presented from a top-down perspective, the “on-the-go” experience is touted as a free-to-play action shooter with “explosive single-player and multiplayer experiences” and featuring in-game cutscenes and appearances from the likes of Rico Rodriguez and Annika Svensson from in the main games.

Throughout the single-player campaign and multiplayer, players will be able to create their own custom agent as they complete bullet-heavy missions against the malicious mercenary group Darkwater. Users can utilize teams of up to four players to take down these baddies’ operations in addition to completing missions in co-op, various challenges, and “30-person competitive multiplayer,” which certainly sounds a lot like a battle royale mode.

With a tentative release date set for 2021, more about Just Cause: Mobile is expected to be revealed in the coming months. The main Just Cause series hasn’t yet ironed out its future following the 2018 release of Just Cause 4, with this new mobile experience currently representing the immediate future of the franchise. Seeing this new game embrace multiplayer is surely an intriguing development for the traditionally single-player series, so it’ll be interesting to see whether future main-series titles will also follow suit in that regard.

Just Cause: Mobile releases for Android and iOS sometime in 2021.
