John Carpenter Wants To Do A Video Game Score
John Carpenter is best known for classic films such as Halloween, Escape From New York, The Thing, and so much more. He is also an accomplished musician, often scoring many tracks that are featured in his movies. That said, it looks like the director is hoping to add to his resume, but with something from the video game world.
We already know Carpenter is a gamer, especially after his recent review of Fallout 76, in which he called it “a glitchathon of a game,” but made it known that he enjoys it. However, he might not want to jump into the development of a game itself, but rather the score for a title. In a recent interview with Consequence of Sound, the composer was asked if being a gamer had any influence over his scores, to which he replied:
I didn’t think of that, but I think there’s a part of me that’s dying to do a game score, I’m just dying to do it, but I don’t think anybody will hire me. No one thinks about me to do music for games, that’d be great!”
Okay, now that it has been mentioned, how has nobody thought to make this happen yet? With John Carpenter being a famed directer and composer, combined with his love for video games, it’s kind of incredible that he hasn’t been tapped to score a playable adventure yet.
We’re sure that whatever the horror master could come up with would be wonderful, but exactly what sort of game could he score? Naturally, one might automatically think that a horror game would be ideal, but maybe he doesn’t want to go that route. He could want to go down the road of light-hearted fun and bubbly sunshine. Either way, we kind of need this to happen sooner rather than later.
