JAKKS BIG FIG’s Durotan from Warcraft 18″ Full Figure Review
JAKKS BIG FIG has done it again with the latest figure to bring a beloved fictional character to life, even if it is for the Horde. Meet Durotan, son of Garad and father of Thrall, this Orc hero and the chieftain of the Frostwolf clan is featured in the highly anticipated Legendary’s upcoming Warcraft film. Fans of this franchise may also remember him from his appearance in-game with the Warlords of Draenor expansion for World of Warcraft.
This deluxe figure by JAKKS BIG FIG weighs a little over 7 1/2 pounds and full height is at 18 inches. It features Durotan’s weapon of choice, appropriately called the Axe of Durotan, as well as limited mobility of the arms and legs. Given the price point of the figure, the details are a surprising delight. Between the intricate paint job, the necessary shading, the differing consistency of plastic material used, and the subtle differences in etching throughout his form, this figure is worth every penny of its price tag.
One thing I really liked about this addition was the differing plastic texture. The plastic used for his hair and armor adornments are flexible while maintaining their integrity. The paint from the chains on his gauntlets do not interfere with the armor colours themselves, which was notable. A lot of times with figures such as these, especially at a mass production, the paint tends to bleed, fade off prematurely, or non-existent all together. I wish the nails had just a smidge more detail to them as well as a little shading to his skin tone but, again, for this price point and the manufacturer, it was really well done.
The axe itself is removable and is a massive 9 inches standalone. The textures applied to the blade as well as the game accurate patterns of this legendary battle axe, I was extremely impressed by the weapon’s production and I feel it adds an amazing flare to this already impressive figure.
This version of Durotan featured is the Deluxe edition that was a Blizzcon only exclusive but you can now find him at Amazon, Jet, and other online wholesalers. The official retail price is at $79.99 but the price is subject to change based on shop used and shipping rates.
So what do you think, Warcraft fans? Durotan wasn’t a huge focus in the game side but he was a pretty big badass in the movie adaptation – is this figure something you’d like to see on your shelves or is it a pass?
