Injustice 2 Introduces Red Hood in this Brutal Gameplay Trailer (VIDEO)
Released just this month, the fighting game Injustice 2 has finally given us a release date for Jason Todd aka Red hood in June. We knew the character was coming soon thanks to a screenshot from a few days ago. The game from NetherRealm Studios showed off the playable characters a little at a time leading up to it’s release through video clips, similar to what you will see below, and not even a month later fans finally get to see the latest addition to the roster in action. Here for your viewing pleasure we give you Red Hood:
In the DC Comics universe Red Hood has been the alias of many entities including the Red Hood gang, but most commonly the name refers to Jason Todd, which is what the Injustice sequel decided to go with. According to their description below the video,
“Jason Todd once served as Batman’s second protégé “Robin” before being brutally murdered by The Joker. Years later, the powerful healing waters of the Lazarus Pit brought Jason Todd back to life. However the power of the pit comes at a cost, and a change takes hold in Jason. He now uses mantle of the Red Hood to wage a lethal war on crime.”
It’s too bad that Red Hood wasn’t included in the game’s storyline, because that would be cool as hell. Instead, the Injustice 2 storyline revolves around Batman and his team trying to rebuild after the fall of Superman. Unfortunately a new group of supervillians led by Brainiac has shown up to wreak havoc and this in turn causes Batman to consider setting Superman free in order to gain his help in fighting them.
Although Injustice 2 has very similar gameplay to the original, this sequel actually has a new feature known as the Gear System. It is a loot dropping system that rewards the players with things such as equipment and costume pieces that customize the characters looks, abilities, and stats. So far the game has gotten very positive reviews and it is currently available for Xbox One and PS4 as well as a companion mobile app for iOS and Android.
