Injustice 2 Almost Added The Matrix’s Neo, Confirms Director

Injustice 2 The Matrix Neo

NetherRealm Studios has been known to put some rather interesting characters in their fighting game franchises over the years. This is especially true for the Injustice series, which has definitely seen some peculiar additions. That said, it should come as no surprise that Neo from The Matrix nearly made his way into Injustice 2.

During a recent rapid-fire Q&A with Game Informer, Ed Boon himself dropped some details not only on Mortal Kombat 11, but also the other works to come out of NetherRealm Studios. When asked if Neo would be making an appearance in the upcoming game, Boon confirmed that there is a “0.0%” chance that he will be seen in Mortal Kombat 11. However, he did say that there was a very close chance that fell through for Neo showing up in Injustice 2.

We can only imagine what it would have been like to see somebody as powerful as Neo in Injustice 2, or even Mortal Kombat 11 for that matter. Either way, it will be interesting to see what the development team has in mind for the DLC characters in the upcoming game. Speaking of which, here’s more about the next Mortal Kombat entry:

“Mortal Kombat is back and better than ever in the next evolution of the iconic franchise. The all new Custom Character Variations give you unprecedented control to customize the fighters and make them your own. The new graphics engine showcasing every skull-shattering, eye-popping moment, brings you so close to the fight you can feel it. And featuring a roster of new and returning Klassic Fighters, Mortal Kombat’s best in class cinematic story mode continues the epic saga over 25 years in the making.”

Mortal Kombat 11 is set to arrive on April 23rd for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
