PlayStation and Horizon Zero Dawn developer, Guerrilla Games, just dropped an interview-style teaser about what else to expect with the game’s release just around the corner. In less than a week, one of the most highly anticipated games of 2017 will be available for all to play. In the new video titled “Horizon Zero Dawn: Building the World“, Guerrilla Games discusses the variety of features to expect. Herman Hulst, the Managing Director of Guerrilla, wanted to make this game as close to a BBC nature documentary as possible. For a seamless experience and transition between areas, that meant loading screens were not an option. The team also worked hard on perfecting facial animations and expressions to make it more realistic. Check out the trailer below:

If you’re just exploring the world and running around, sprinting, going into underground places – there’s never a loading screen. It’s all seamless. So, that’s what the tech guys have been working on very hard,” said Game Director Mathijs de Jonge.

Art Director, Jan-Bart van Beek, gave his own insight on personal expectations and efforts that the studio focused on. In a world of RPGs, Guerrilla wanted to make sure areas that were lacking was given more attention, which included bringing an aspect of authenticity and realism to expressions.”Traditionally, people use procedural animation, where they do a lot of mouth flapping that gets generated by the sounds,” said van Beek. “We decided to mo-cap almost 15 hours of dialogue that we have in the game and see if we can do it at a higher quality. For ourselves, we made a gigantic leap there in the quality of facial animation and the believability of the characters in the world.”

Horizon Zero Dawn launches February 28th, 2017 exclusively for PlayStation 4.
