Hi-Rez Announces New Studio, Teases Secret Project
Hi-Rez Studios is well-known for putting out popular competitive online titles such as Realm Royale, Smite, and Paladins, but the publisher looks to be expanding their horizons even further in the near-future. Announced over social media, Hi-Rez revealed a new studio under their umbrella called Red Beard Games, teasing an unannounced project that’s currently in the works.
Based in Brighton, UK, Red Beard was unveiled as Hi-Rez’s latest studio, confirming a new game is now in the midst of development. Nothing else was divulged regarding the secretive project, only that the dev team regretfully “can’t show you what they are working on yet.”

While the next Hi-Rez title is being left a mystery for the time being, a number of details were unveiled about the emerging Red Beard Games. Via their website, the developer describes itself as “the newest game development studio owned by video game developer and publisher Hi-Rez Studios. We’re an ambitious team located in the center of bustling Brighton, UK. Our goal is to deliver amazing experiences tailored to the interests of large gaming communities.” Red Beard also stated a set of “core pillars,” which includes:
- ITERATIVE – We believe that the best games are born from experimentation… No idea is too stupid, no concept is too bizarre. With constant Iteration and improvement being fundamental to building experiences that gamers will enjoy and revisit.
- COLLABORATIVE – As a small team, we understand that cooperation is essential to success. At Red Beard Games we value opinions and ideas from the entire team equally. It’s through this unique sense of respect and camaraderie that we can create exceptional videogames and levels of service.
- CREATIVE – We are creating distinctive experiences, tailor-made for the largest gaming communities in the world. This can only be achieved with an absolute focus on the evolution of new ideas and a refusal to accept convention.
