Gone Home Available for Free This Weekend

The Fullbright Company, developer of Gone Home, has released the game for free on itch.io this weekend. Stating that it was “for people that need something about hope and love right now”.

Gone Home

If you’re unfamiliar with the game here’s what you need to know. Gone Home puts you in the shoes of Kaitlin, who has just returned home from a year abroad in the year 1995. You return home to find that your family is not there to greet you, with a note from your sister, Samantha, asking you not to investigate. You must explore the mansion in Portland Oregon to find out where they might have gone and what happened.

This is a first-person adventure exploration game whose plot relies heavily on exploration the world and examining objects to find more information. If you dig story, this game is definitely for you. Check out the trailer below for a better idea of what the game has in store for you!

Gone Home is Fullbright’s first game, featuring music from Heavens to Betsy and Bratmobile. The game is available on PC/MAC, XBox One and PlayStation 4, however it is only free this weekend for the computer version of the game.

Gone Home

The game has a Life is Strange feel that lends itself to the angsty vibes of the mid 90’s. For players who remember that era, this will definitely bring you back in some ways. For those who don’t remember, or weren’t born yet, you can still appreciate the aesthetic and get drawn into a story that holds relevance even today.

Overall, free or not, Gone Home is definitely a nice way to break up the negativity of a crazy week! Today being the last day to get it, you’d better get a move on to enjoy what is left of a pretty awesome deal.
