Final Fantasy VII Remake Has Officially Gone Gold, No More Delays

Earlier this week, the folks over at Square Enix finally released a playable demo for the highly anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake, putting the title into the hands of the public for the first time outside of scheduled events and conventions. While the demo offers an enjoyable tease for what’s to come, it doesn’t completely take away the pain of knowing that the remake was originally slated to release this week before the developer announced a 5-week delay. Thankfully, the title’s latest delay will also be its last, as the Final Fantasy VII Remake has officially gone gold.

As reported by the folks over at Siliconera, Final Fantasy VII Remake game director Tetsuya Nomura disclosed in a recent interview with 4Gamer that there won’t be anymore delays after the one that pushed the game’s release date into April. The delay itself wasn’t completely terrible – only a short 5-6 weeks – though Nomura confirms that it was all for a good reason. “Yes, it’s all right now,” Nomura began.

We needed a little more time for some of the last quality improvements, but it has already gone gold and there won’t be any further delays.”

While the delay to the Final Fantasy VII Remake had some effect on existing pre-orders and PlayStation 4’s timed exclusivity window, it was recently confirmed that the delay would not affect future entries in the series. In fact, if anything, the more polished the first game, the seemingly easier it will be to churn out a second – and maybe a third – entry further down the line. If the demo is anything to go by, it’ll be worth the wait.

The Final Fantasy VII Remake is slated to release exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on April 10, 2020.
