Guardians Of The Galaxy’s Dave Bautista Wants In On The ‘Gears of War’ Movie (VIDEO)
Following a lengthy wrestling career competing between the ropes of the WWE, Dave Bautista found a new calling as a Hollywood actor, most notably as the overly-literal killing machine Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy. Since gaining prominence in the Marvel Studios picture, several big films have featured the physically imposing actor in memorable roles, including Blade Runner 2049 and James Bond film Spectre. It seems the actor wants to deliver a “Batista Bomb” to the Locust Horde for his next project, as Bautista has now expressed his desire to star in the long-awaited Gears of War movie.
During promotion of his latest film Hotel Artemis, Bautista participated in an open Q&A session, with one fan asking which character would be his “dream role” on the big screen. The question would go a step further to suggest Gears of War character Marcus Fenix as the perfect movie role for him. Bautista surprisingly revealed that he was on the same page, with the actor confirming he has been actively pursuing that exact role “for years now”. Check out his response below.

I’ve been pursuing Gears of War for years now. I believe it’s in the hands of Universal Studios. And I’ve been knocking on their door and badgering them and they are so sick of me phoning in and asking them where they are with that project. But, yes, Marcus Fenix is absolutely a dream role for me. I want that role. So, if you can start a petition, feel free.”
Universal has been in development of a Gears of War adaptation for quite a while, with progress finally shifting last year when a writer was chosen for the proposed sci-fi action film. With casting not yet taking place on the project, the video game movie’s production would likely do well with a recognizable star like Dave Bautista, especially as the actor also shares more than a passing resemblance to Marcus Fenix. As for the actor’s suggested method of petitioning for the role, one dedicated fan has already begun the process over at Change.org, with just over 80 signatures collected at the time of writing.
On the gaming side of Gears of War, plenty of variety looks to be in store for the franchise if a new report is to be believed. A total of three new games have been rumored to be revealed at Microsoft’s upcoming Pre-E3 conference, including an official reveal for Gears of War 5 and a mystery game in the Battle Royale genre. We should know more as Microsoft’s Xbox FanFest kicks off on June 10th.
