Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Discusses Quest Design In Latest Interview
The mystery revolving around Cyberpunk 2077 is definitely deeper than many fans would like, but that is only because it’s CD Projekt RED and we’re all excited to dive right into Night City with reckless abandon. That said, we’re still learning more about the upcoming game, including the work that has gone into the quest design process.
Speaking with German magazine Gamestar, quest designer Philipp Weber touched on the complex quest design they have encountered during development. While the initial translation posted by Reddit user NightCityLife said that quests in Cyberpunk 2077 will be three to five times more difficult than what players experienced in The Witcher 3, Weber chimed in to clarify. “As a bit of context, since this was taken from a German podcast, and some things might get lost in translation,” he said.
What I was saying was that as a quest designer, I now have to consider the different new opportunities we offer (like using Netrunning Skills, etc.) and how using those often gives you more (as an example, 3 to 5 in some cases) ways how to solve a quest or challenges within a quest. This naturally makes quest designs more complex in some areas, but it’s honestly great fun to do. I hope this cleared this statement up a little.”
While the quests featured in Cyberpunk 2077 may or may not be more difficult than The Witcher 3’s, it definitely seems like they will be more complex. Well, at the very least, it was a more difficult process to create them. In any case, we’re sure the quests will provide a wide variety of difficulty levels in the depths of Night City.
Cyberpunk 2077 is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, but remains without a release date. Here’s to hoping we learn everything we could dream of at this year’s E3.
