New Trailer for Upcoming Digital Board Game ‘Cultist Simulator’ Will Bring Out Your Dark Side (VIDEO)
Alexis Kennedy founded Failbetter Games in 2009 before ultimately leaving the company last year with the intent to broaden the types of games he wanted to make. Although he spent some time working with the likes of BioWare and Telltale, he currently runs a microstudio called Weather Factory. In this time, Kennedy started working on a new digital occult board game named Cultist Simulator, in which he says the goal is to “rain blood down on the world”.
Kennedy released a new trailer for Cultist Simulator that shows off the game mechanics and the dark atmosphere of the title itself. He also announced a Kickstarter for the upcoming game that launches on September 1st and that his plan is to release the digital board game sometime next February. Check out the trailer below:
According to the Weather Factory website:
“Cultist Simulator is a game of apocalypse and yearning from Alexis Kennedy, creator of Fallen London and creative director of Sunless Sea. Find abominable rites in dreams. Craft tools and summon spirits. Indoctrinate innocents. Choose between sane and insane victory conditions. Become the herald of a new age. You’ll face trials and temptations. You’ll be destroyed by inner demons, or torn apart by the red powers of the night, or ascend to the ranks of the Long and the Names and the Hours. Your heirs and students and victims may succeed where you failed.”
The website also states that if players support the Kickstarter, they will have access to the Perpetual Edition and free lifetime DLC. You can download the prototype version for free on itch.io!
