Call of Cthulhu Trailer has all the Makings of a Lovecraftian Nightmare (VIDEO)

Cthulhu Trailer

For fans of the world of HP Lovecraft, impending doom is worn like a snuggie on Christmas day. Whether you’re immersed in a story, or busy with a board game, an old one’s cold slimy tendrils are always playing at the back of ones mind touting the madness to come. Cyanide’s Call of Cthulhu trailer, called “Depths of Madness”, showcases the RPG-investigation game published by Focus Home perfectly. This video wraps the festering insanity and darkness into a minute and thirty-seven second embrace that will leave you with questions, and chills. Experience the edge of darkness for yourself below!

The video is wrought with the kind of dark mystery one would expect from a Call of Cthulhu trailer, after all this is HP Lovecraft we’re talking about. Images of murder, insanity, cultists, and deep dark holes do well to cast unsettling intrigue on the game. If you’re not sure what you’re getting into, here is a synopsis of the story:

“A Private Detective, Edward Pierce is on a mission to find the truth behind the death of an acclaimed artist and her family on a backwater island. Pierce is used to trusting his instincts, but with whale mutilations and disappearing bodies, this is only the beginning as reality becomes skewed. As your investigation leads you closer to the sphere of influence of the Great Dreamer, you will start to doubt everything you see. You will have to find balance between your own sanity, and your determination in finding out what lurks in the shadows—as they say that madness is the only way that can bring you to the truth. On a mission to find the truth behind the death of an acclaimed artist and her family on a backwater island, the player will soon uncover a more disturbing truth as the Great Dreamer, Cthulhu, prepares its awakening…”

This Call of Cthulhu trailer puts the game in fairly good perspective. An RPG with elements of psychological horror makes it the kind of game that just might have Resident Evil and Silent Hill enthusiasts shaking in their boots. One thing’s for certain, we’ll be playing this one with the lights on. You can expect Call of Cthulhu later this year for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4!
